"Coaching with Human Better EDU has been an incredible experience. The training is rigorous and thorough, and has brought me more clarity of purpose and confidence in my dreams. My relationships with myself and my loved ones have benefitted from the dedication and intention of all of my hard work."

For Sarah Filler, what began as a personal journey to regain clarity and confidence soon became a life-changing experience—one that didn’t just shift her own mindset but sparked a deep passion to help others do the same. Coaching, for her, isn’t just a profession; it’s a way to create lasting impact, helping people unlock their potential and step fully into their power.  If you’ve ever felt the pull to help others break through their barriers and step into their full potential, this might just be your calling too.

Everybody’s Got a Coach

While coaching as a career has been around since the 1980s it hasn’t been until recent years that we have seen an explosion of coaching as a profession, and prioritizing your mental health and optimizing your success is firmly planted in the mainstream. The attitude towards working with a coach has shifted from “unheard of” to “who isn’t?”. It seems as though everyone is either working with a coach, or working as a coach, in some capacity.

My Journey to Coaching

I didn’t know anything about Life Coaching until a dear friend recommended her life coach to me when I was going through a challenging time in my life. I knew after my first session as a client that the trajectory of my life was forever changed. Now, six years later, I have gone through the Human Better EDU Coach Training Program, and am working with my clients to help them to change the trajectory of their own lives.

Coaching is a Unique Approach

When I first started working with my coach, as a client, I was navigating the death of my mother, along with the responsibility of caring for my father, while raising three daughters, who at the time were 20, 17, and 15. I had been struggling to figure out what to do in my life, as I had spent twenty years at home, raising my girls. I was ready to start thinking about re-entering the workforce, but didn’t know where to begin. Not only was I navigating grief and overwhelm, I was feeling lost, and in a constant state of inertia. My thoughts were a swirling cyclone of negativity, each thought keeping me stuck in a state of paralysis.

  • “It’s too late in my life to make a change, or try anything new.”
  • “I am too old.”
  • “I need to be available for my family, as they are navigating big changes in their own lives.”
  • “I have no idea where to start.”
  • “I don’t even have time for the things I HAVE to do, forget about the things I WANT to do.”

I needed someone to help guide me, help me to break down all of these big things in my life into manageable chunks. I knew I had to figure out how to start putting one foot in front of the other, instead of standing in one place frantically volleying the next crisis away.

Taking Steps Forward

My coach helped me to do that. While I love and believe in therapy, I knew I needed a more action oriented solution, and a person in my life who could keep me accountable.Working with my coach, I learned so much about myself and experienced so much growth. Together we:

  • Identified negative thought patterns and themes, along with their origins
  • Created small, manageable actions to help me to build my trust in myself
  • Identified and challenged the beliefs I had about myself that were keeping me in a swirl of shame and paralysis
  • Created and implemented new beliefs to help expand my capacity and get me moving towards the life I knew I wanted to be living

Giving Back Through Coaching

After a couple of years as a client, I knew I wanted to learn how to do this for other people. Oprah says about coaching, “Coaching helps you stop the crazy mind chatter in your head that tells you all the time that you’re not good enough.” This is absolutely true – as you work with a coach, you can see the chatter for what it is, and you get to a point where you will choose differently, because you won’t believe that chatter anymore.

Coaching with Human Better EDU has been an incredible experience. The training is rigorous and thorough, and has brought me more clarity of purpose and confidence in my dreams. My relationships with myself and my loved ones have benefitted from the dedication and intention of all of my hard work. The community of coaches at Human Better EDU each contribute their own style to the various classes, programs and workshops, and as a Trainee you will witness them in action as they teach, speak at a conference, or run a retreat, and you will take away another nugget of wisdom every time.  Bill Gates once said “Everyone needs a coach. We all need people who give us feedback. That’s how we improve.”

Whether you are facing a challenge in your life, or you want to change jobs, work up the courage to try something new, or you just need someone to help you organize your time, we have a coach for that! And if you are interested in becoming a coach, our next training group will begin in March 2025. As a coach with Human Better EDU, you will have the opportunity to not only coach private clients, but you will be able to help us to bring our valuable tools to classrooms far and wide, from elementary school students to graduate students and everyone in between, helping us to empower educators and students alike to reach for their dreams.
